Every October, Jasper turns the lights down — literally. It's the world's second-largest Dark Sky Preserve, and the only one with an actual town inside it,
which means you don't have to trek far to see a sky most people only see in photos.

About the festival

The Jasper Dark Sky Festival kicks off October 16–25 this year, marking 15 years since it started. Ten days of stargazing sessions, speakers, and events — some free, some ticketed — spread across town and the surrounding park.

our homebase for it all You're a short walk from downtown, which means less time getting to festival events and more time actually enjoying them. Swap stories about the night's best sightings in the lounge, grab something from the communal kitchen, and meet other travelers who came here for the same reason you did.

October nights get cold — pack layers. Some festival events sell out,
so it's worth checking the schedule and booking ahead
